Dirty Socks and Feelings

"Tell Mom about your socks, Bryan," Daddy urged when I came into the room the other day.

Bryan looked up from his picture book from his cozy spot on the couch with a blank stare.

"Whats on your socks?" He encouraged.

"Feelings. The feelings on the bottom, " he filled in.

Now it was my turn to have a blank stare.

"You know, these things," he said turning his foot upside down to point them out to me.

I got closer. He was pointing to the little rubber grippers.

All I could do was smile.

These memories, these special things they think, say, and do, written down so I never forget.
